Child Physical Abuse

We have many years of experience evaluating children for possible physical abuse. We have seen children with the full range of possible injuries including head trauma, bruising, fractures, burns, and other wounds.

Child Sexual Abuse

We have evaluated children for many years who may have been sexually abused. We have worked with multidisciplinary teams and investigators on the prosecution and we have worked with counsel for clients accused of sexual assault.

Strangulation

We have seen patients and reviewed forensic evaluations by forensic nurses on alleged assaults involving strangulation. We know the pathophysiology and expected findings after strangulation, including the common and uncommon symptoms and signs.

Inflicted versus Accidental Injury

The core of many of our evaluations is determining whether an injury was caused by an accident or by non-accidental trauma. We use the medical literature and our extensive experience seeing patients to provide an evidenced-based assessment regarding how or when the injuries occurred.

Sexual Assault

We have many years of experience overseeing nursing staff in a forensic practice. We know the medical literature and the interpretation of physical findings and laboratory tests related to sexual assault.

Other Forms of Neglect or Abuse

We have experience evaluating patients and reviewing records involving other forms of abuse or neglect including elder abuse, medical child abuse, and possible victimization by neglect or lack of supervision.
